TODAY IN SEATTLE-AREA HISTORY, Feb 5

Hundreds of thousands of fans in 2014 pack a parade route through downtown Seattle to celebrate the Seattle Seahawks’ first Super Bowl win, three days earlier over the Denver Broncos. Despite sub-freezing weather, an estimated 450,000 people line the 2.5-mile route, with the only problems being overloads to transit and communications systems. The turnout is considered to be the biggest gathering in Seattle’s history, easily eclipsing the Sonics victory parade in 1979. Above photo credit, Porter Hammer.
